The Sabine goddess of strength and vigour, she is also a goddess of prosperity, overseeing the giving of New Year gifts. At Rome her temple was on the Via Sacra. A Roman version of her as goddess of health is SALUS. She resided in Rome under both names. On January 1 good luck charms called strenae, composed of twigs of the ‘Sabine tree’, juniper, were brought from her grove and exchanged as gifts
