This sun god may be linked to AKTAB or AL-KUTBAY of the Lihyanites and Nabataeans. He was also called RUDA. Herodotus (5th century BC) calls him ORTALT and links him to DIONYSIUS. Rudayu and Ortalt are phonetic transcriptions of the same name, Ruda. A 7th century BC Assyrian king named the four principal North Arabian deities as ATARSAMAIN, ATARQURUMA, NUKHAY and RULDAYU.
