The Zulu supreme being, male, a concept developed following contact with Christianity. His name is iNkosi yezulu, the eternal from whom flows power and might. He is both good and evil - his main characteristics being kindness and generosity, but he can be erratic and unpredictable. His animal is the chameleon (because the sky also changes colour). In Zululand, certain hilltops are regarded as his sacred territory. He sends lightning and insanity to those of whom he disapproves
