Daughter of the god ZEUS and ERIS, goddess of strife. Ate was the goddess of infatuation, mischief and guilt, of rash actions and their consequences. She would mislead men into actions which would be the ruin of them. Zeus banished her from heaven after she had tricked him into taking a thoughtless oath. She is said to have been responsible for the bitter quarrel between the Greek heroes Agamemnon and Achilles during the Trojan War
